Snow: Why?

Today I woke up from my dad calling me down to breakfast but it could have easily been from my little sister, Keelie shouting, "Paigie! It's snowing! It's snowing!" When I looked out the window it was like a blizzard. I told Keelie to come down to breakfast with me so we went downstairs. Within what seemed like a couple of seconds after breakfast, Keelie was already outside and playing in the snow. She was so excited for the snow. On the other hand I was thinking Why? Why snow on spring break? Why can't it be on Monday? Why today? Why on Friday?
While I was reading and enjoying the warmth of the house while reading Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry, Keelie came trudging into the house in her giant boots, coat, and snow pants. She pulled my book out of my hands and pulled me into the laundry room, where we have all of our snow clothing. I refused to move. I was not going outside. Keelie kept on pushing me. "Mom!" Keelie shouted. Then my mom told me to go outside for just 20 minutes. I groaned but still took 20 minutes to get my scarf, mittens, coat, hat, and snow pants on.
When I got outside I think it was worth the 20 minutes just to see Keelie smile as big as she did. Our family has almost always wanted chickens so we have bits and pieces of a chicken coop everywhere. By my dad's trailer is the roof to the chicken coop. One side is covered up with wood open. I didn't want to get wet so Keelie and I climbed into the roof and spent most of our 20 minutes there. When we got inside we all had red cheeks and noses. It wasn't as bad as I expected it to be. Definitely not as cold as I thought it would be. One of the things that made the time that I had to spend outside better was that I had my little sister there. I love her so much!
