Spelling Bee!

Do you remember last year when I said that I got into the school spelling bee but didn't win? Remember how I said that even though I didn't win I was still "The Spelling Bee Queen?" Well, this year I got into the school spelling bee again and this time I am the real spelling bee queen! So, a while ago my class had a class spelling bee and I got the word decoy and solemn. I spelled both of them right by the time that everyone was out except for a girl named Abi and another girl named Samatha. On Friday, our school held a spelling bee. The spelling bee started with 25 people and quickly went down to five people, a girl named Lauren, a boy named Shale, my neighbor, Elli, one of my friends, Ashley and another girl in 4th grade. That's when they went to the words that we didn't get to study. I got my word right, then Lauren got her word right. Elli got her word wrong and the other 4th grader got her word wrong. Shale and Ashley got their words correct. After that everyone got the words wrong. When everyone got their word wrong they went back to the list that we got to study. Everyone got their word right so they went back to the list that we didn't get to study. Everyone got their word wrong except for Shale. When the person gets their word right and all the other people get their word wrong that means that they get first place, but Shale got first that year! He got the same prize that he got last year.
After Shale got his word right he didn't have to spell anymore but they still had to get the to runner ups and there were three people left. They kept going at the list that we didn't get to study. I got the word diurnal. "Speller one, (me!) your word is diurnal," said the judge. I closed my eyes, I had no idea how to spell this word. Finally I asked if the judge could repeat the word. "Diurnal. D-I" I paused, what if I got the rest of the word wrong. My brother Aiden said that my pause lasted forever. "U" I said with my eyes still closed. I heard people in the audience telling me not to do u, but I had already said it and you have to go with the first thing that you say. "R-N-A-L" I finish. "I'm sorry, that is incorrect," said the judge but when the teachers protested and said that it was correct I knew that it was. Lauren got her word right. If Ashley got her word wrong then the spelling be would be over. She walked up to the microphone and the judge gave her her word. She repeated the the word and began to spell. She got it... wrong. I was a runner up! I won the spelling bee! Everyone that participated said their name and teacher. After everyone introduced themselves we took a group photo with everyone who participated. When we were done with the group photo the photographer took Shale, Lauren, and me to take a personal photo.
After school, I had cupcakes and we went to a restaurant to eat and then to a book shop to get books. Friday was absolutely the best day that I have had all year so far. I can't wait to go to the district spelling bee!
